  • This is probably not appropriate here, but... We know the attention that sports/athletes get in this country. Someone on a Ning board said he was watching a "national signing day" event on ESPN and he said we should do something like that for engineers. It got me thinking that this is a great idea. There are very smart kids at the best high schools that the Ivies fight for. We could ID one or two of these kids and then maybe somehow feature them in some short (three minute) docu-short on what goes into their decision to choose a college. it could be set up with all the drama of the next star QB picking his college.

  • Wow...that is a very articulate and insightful comment. We've lost her to the humanities, no doubt. :-)

  • Advertisement It is an ad for a magazine subscription, showing only two young (nerdy) white boys. Our network - N:Changing II Toolkit\advertisment - make magazine "They both look nerdy, though I believe one only unintentionally. One boy has the classic horn-rimmed glasses on, one can assume to - curiously - only exacerbate nerdiness.

  • Innovation, Universities, Science and Skills Committee - Fourth Report Report This report out of the House of Commons The subheading is Engineering: Turning Ideas into Reality. This looks like the U.K. version of the engineering messages project. http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmselect/cmdius/50/50i.pdf If you really want to change the world—choose a career in engineering. And I mean real engineering, not financial engineering.” His comment encapsulates the spirit of our Report. In the current economic climate, engineering has come under the spotlight because it is a critical component of our national economy and of society in general.
